On April 2, 2014, the UMASS IGERT Offshore Wind Energy Program hosted its annual poster exhibit to showcase the proposed and ongoing research of its fellows. Twenty three posters were on display, highlighting students’ research in the engineering, environmental impacts, and policy pertaining to offshore wind energy.  Topics included structural design of wind turbine components, the implications of wind power on biologic species, and the decision-making process when siting offshore wind projects.  Attendees to the session included industry representatives, Massachusetts state officials, IGERT faculty and students, as well as individuals from the wider university community.  The event provided an ideal setting for students to share their work, exchange ideas with the larger research and industry communities, and for all in attendance to gain new insights for further research and development in offshore wind technologies.
