Abstract

This presentation will relate issues in planning theory to planning for large complex systems, specific attention will be given to the interdisciplinary nature of such planning.

Speaker Bio

Ken Payne earned a PhD in regional planning from U-Mass Amherst and has held public policy positions in local, Federal, and state government. He is an architect of RI's energy efficiency and renewable energy laws and programs. He has worked actively in the areas of economic develpment and environmental protection-- he is an honorary life member of the RI Marine Trades Association and was also given a lifetime achievement award by the Environment Council of RI. Ken Payne was chairperson of the stakeholders process for RI's Ocean Special Area Management Plan.
