Mexico has set a series of ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goals in response to climate change concerns. We are interested in what implications these goals have on the development of Mexico’s energy generation portfolio. We want to apply the generation expansion problem to the Mexican Electrical Grid while considering national emissions goals. We will look at pathways to develop generation portfolios that can help Mexico reach its emissions goals, which would  identify robust near term decisions and policies for the development of the electrical system.
