Using High Fidelity Modeling for Physical Insight and Validation for Offshore Wind

Abstract:

Due to the available wind resource and proximity to population centers, offshore wind is a growing area of research and development.  However, the deployment to deeper waters requires floating support structures that must resist both wind and current.  In this talk, we use high-fidelity tools to assess forces on a semi-submersible structure.  We also discuss future work for studying breaking waves.
