The North American Wind Energy Academy (NAWEA) 2013 Symposium was held at University of Colorado Boulder and was attended by IGERT student fellows Gordie Stewart, Bill LaCava, and Wystan Carswell. Carswell presented a paper titled "Soil Damping Effects on Monopile-Supported Offshore Wind Turbines." Stewart presented a paper titled "Fatigue and Ultimate Load Analysis of a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine with Misaligned Wind and Waves." The symposium connected research institutions, universities, and industry in order to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration towards increasing the U.S. wind energy production. IGERT student fellows presented at the Graduate Student Symposium, a forum in which students present and discuss research with their peers.
