Students taking a course on renewable energy at Holyoke Community College visited the Wind Energy Center at UMass Amherst on Monday, where they toured a wind engineering research laboratory and met with Fellows in the IGERT Offshore Wind Energy Program. The students, who have been meeting many stakeholders in the renewable energy industry, had many insightful questions for the IGERT Fellows about wind power, and about the opportunity to advance their education at UMass, where they could take advantage of the university's many wind energy experts. IGERT Fellows Rachel Koh, Zara Dowling, and Robert Darrow gave the students brief presentations on their PhD research projects, which cut across the three main thrusts of the IGERT program.
