Three undergrads from 3 different departments are working on research projects with IGERT fellows Destenie Nock and Franklyn Kanyako. Destnie is advising Ami Khalsa, an undergraduate student in Environmental Science researching low carbon electricity options for the New England power grid and Oliva Pfeiffer, a Mechanical Engineering student performing regression analysis in order to understand how large amounts of offshore wind would impact the variation in hydro power. Franklyn and Destnie are co-advising Ivan Norman who is an Electrical Engineering student working on implementing GCAM simulations in the UMass super computer. This will help us understand how the falling costs of offshore wind might impact the global energy mix.
