WEF Talk 2: “Wind farm flow control”

WEF TALK 2: "Wind Farm flow control"

ABSTRACT:

Wind farm flow control coordinates the control activities of individual turbines in a farm to achieve ends such as increased energy capture through reduced wake losses.  In this presentation, Paul will overview this field of research and present recent results of field trials of the technology.

BIO:

Paul A. Fleming, Ph.D., is the principal investigator for wind energy control systems at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Flatirons Campus. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2009. His research focuses on wind farm control, including the modeling and design of wind farm control strategies. He has led some of the first public field demonstrations of wind farm controls and commercial facilities.
